It was a gorgious day for crumpeting today. Light breeze, mid 60s to 70s. The sun was a tad strong and that made things difficult, but we used the "wind/sun/5-point rule" to offset this problem.

It's worth noting that Heather and Tasha were on the same team in all three games today. Mind you, we tried very hard to split them up. In the third game we chose and rechose three times! But each time they picked the same team. Madness.

Game 1 - In the first game, "We Aren't Number 1, That's Just the Number We Picked" (Rob, Greg, John, Eric) defeated "3 Can Be as Bad as 1" (Tasha, Heather, Pat) by a score of 10-3.

Game 2 - Game two was a very intense game. "North American Plate Shiftage" (Robbie, Patrick, Eric) leapt to an early 5-0 lead over "C'mon Guys" (John, Greg, Tasha, Heather). But "C'mon Guys" was not through. They went on a 5-2 run to make the new score 7-5, still in favor of the North American Plates, but not nearly as decisive. The Plates pulled off another 2-pointer, and "C'mon Guys" scored 3 more to put the score at a very tight 9-8. After being deadlocked for a while, the Plates hit the ball out of bounds. In an event that hasn't happened in years, John (of "C'mon Guys") scored the winning goal on an inbounds play, even though nobody touched the ball. In an attempt to pass back to his teammates, the ball simply slipped by all of them, taking a slightly odd curve, and into John's own goal to score the winning point for the Plates.

Game 3 - In game 3 the "Nose-Touching Squirrels" (Robbie, John, Eric) faced "We'll Score Eventually" (Heather, Tasha, Patrick, Greg). The Squirrels jumped to a lightning fast 4-0 lead and it looked like it would be over soon for the (seemingly) aptly named "We'll Score Eventually". Especially after the Squirrels invented a new cheer that involved touching their noses and using their crumpet sticks as big, bushy tails. And then especially after Tasha started doing this cheer, much to the chagrin of the other members of Eventually.

But this victory was not meant to go to "Nose-Touching Squirrels", as "We'll Score Eventually" eventually scored. And when they scored, they scored big, taking a 9-1 run over the Squirrels to win the game by a final score of 10-5.
