Jayhawk Division Stats

It was a glorious evening for crumpets at Shawnee Mission Park. There was some wind from the South, which definitely impacted the games. But the wind rule took care of some of that.

Game 1 - In the first game, "Sticky Wickets" (Pat, Katie, Katie, Jess, Megan, Cori) faced off against "Giggle Acorn Killers" (John, Dan, Robbie, David, Scott) in what was almost a battle of the sexes. After an early (but relatively minor) injury to Jess's ankle, the Wickets tore out of the shoot to take a lead that they would never give back, although GAT managed to come close several times. There were two occasions in this game in which the ball got stuck in a nearby tree. This is only really odd in that it didn't happen again in any of the other games. As the game approached its conclusion, Megan took care of the "Acorn Killers" part by whacking Robbie in the, ::ahem::, "acorns". All was well, though, and the Sticky Wickets went on to win 10-6.

Game 2 - In game two, "Robbie's Cup" (Cori, Katie, Megan, Dan, Jess, John) fell to "Canteloupe Peelers" (Robbie, Patrick, Scott, Greg, Heather, David, Katie) by a score of 10-4.

Game 3 - In a near shutout, "Clan Dumb-Ass" (Cori, Megan, Jess, Robbie, David, Patrick) felled "Silver Truck, We See You!" (Heather, Greg, John, Dan, Katie, Katie, Scott) by a score of 10-4. The game began with a slow, almost 1-point-at-a-time build up by the Clan to reach a score of 9-0. At this point, Truck picked it up a bit and started going for some very hard to get crumpets, resulting in a minor injury in a collision between Greg and Patrick. Truck posted two goals, but in the end, the 9-point deficit was simply too much and "Clan Dumb-Ass" won 10-4.

After the games we headed over to the Theater in the Park for the free KC Symphony concert. The concert was, sadly, cut short by about 45 minutes because the weather looked nasty. It didn't look as nasty as it did during the drive home, though. I think we averaged around 35 MPH for most of the drive back along K-10. But I think everyone made it back alive, so that's good. We also got some lovely artwork from Megan out of the whole deal.
